Association of Former Students
Angela M. Chapman’s influence within the Texas A&M University community is both enduring and visionary. As an Endowed Century Club Member, she has created two lifetime endowments, directly funding annual scholarships and Texas A&M organizations, and the Aggie Ring scholarship, awarding students from various backgrounds. She has also recently established the Angela Chapman Texas A&M Foundation Excellence Award, given to an African American female student each year.
A respected voice among alumni leadership, she serves as an appointed Leadership Council Representative At Large for the Association of Former Students. Angela proudly supports and serves as an ambassador for helping with sharing the benefits of the “Pass It Back” campaign, helping to inspire fellow Aggies to give back and strengthen the Aggie Network. Angela has also served on the 12 Under 12 Young Alumni Spotlight Committee, where she helped select emerging leaders who are boldly shaping the future and representing the Aggie values.
Angela is also a proud member of the Black Former Student Network (BFSN) and a committed Sponsor of the Aggie Impact Gala each year, a powerful celebration of Black excellence, scholarship, and community at Texas A&M. She has contributed to the BFSN Endowed Foundation Excellence Award, awarding deserving Black students, the Kevin Carreathers Award for Impact and Service and recently has been selected as one of the 2025 Aggie Impact Gala Award Honorees, a prestigious honor bestowed upon a former student of Texas A&M University. The award, sponsored by the first Constituent Network of The Association of Former Students, Texas A&M Black Former Student Network, recognizes individual persons who have made a positive IMPACT on society by setting themselves apart by excelling in their profession, their undying commitment to serving society and his/her community, and by their service to Black students, faculty, and former students of Texas A&M University.
Through every role, Angela leads with purpose, invests with intention, and continues to leave a legacy rooted in service, equity, and transformational impact. She leads by example and demonstrates the Aggie core values: Respect, Excellence, Leadership, Loyalty, Integrity, and Selfless Service
Texas A&M Aggie Ring Scholarship

Texas A&M Aggie Ring Scholarship
Angela’s second lifetime endowment is the Angela Arterberry-Chapman ’93 Aggie Endowed Ring Scholarship program, which makes it possible for Aggies to wear the most visible symbol of the Aggie Network- the Aggie Ring. The Angela Arterberry-Chapman ’93 Endowed Aggie Ring Scholarship provides financial assistance to selected students from Tyler, Texas, and Gonzales, Texas, to be used for the purchase of their Aggie Ring. Dallas Black Dance Theatre

Dallas Black Dance Theatre
Angela M. Chapman proudly serves on the Board of Directors for the Dallas Black Dance Theatre (DBDT), the oldest and largest professional dance company in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. Driven by her passion for equity and access in the Arts, Angela plays a pivotal role in advancing DBDT’s mission to inspire, educate, and bridge cultures through exceptional dance. In her governance role, she provides strategic leadership that helps sustain world-class performances, support the dance academy’s needs, innovative arts education programs, and expanded cultural access for underrepresented communities.
As co-chair of DBDT’s inaugural fundraising event, The BIG Dance, Angela helped secure donations for the biggest fundraising event of the year. Now Angela proudly serves annually on the Host Committee to contribute to ensuring a successful BIG DANCE event. Her commitment reflects her dedication to the Arts as a force to connect, empower, and transform.

Angela M. Chapman actively serves her hometown of Tyler, Texas, with the same passion and purpose that define her professional journey. A proud East Texas native, Angela remains deeply connected to the community that shaped her, leading efforts that provide direct service, philanthropy, and advocacy for local families and youth.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, she mobilized her John Tyler High School Class of ’88 classmates to host a successful free mask distribution, protecting residents and supporting public health initiatives in a critical time. She also partnered with the East Texas Food Bank to fight food insecurity, personally, and with her classmates, contributing to helping the community with having access to nutritious meals.
Her dedication to educational equity shines through the annual Elevate Your Life Scholarship, which she founded and leads, uniting classmates to fund opportunities for high school senior students at her alma mater who demonstrate resilience, leadership, and drive to succeed. Angela’s impact reflects her belief that authentic leadership means never forgetting her beginnings and remembering her hometown, which shaped her life’s journey.

Angela Chapman has been a consistent and impactful presence in high schools across Dallas ISD and Houston ISD, where her commitment to youth development reaches far beyond the classroom. Over the years, she has invested more than $500,000 in financial resources and her time to support PTA/PTO programs, teacher appreciation weeks, athletic programs, and fine arts departments in underserved areas, recognizing their vital role in building students’ confidence, discipline, creativity, and sense of belonging. From developing effective student programs, increasing school morale, sponsoring high school uniforms, performance gear, and mascot fees to funding travel costs for competitions, tournaments, and showcases, Angela’s contributions have helped bridge critical funding gaps where she has directly empowered student-athletes and young artists across multiple campuses.
She is a hands-on advocate who mentors students, visits campuses, serves as a guest teacher, and provides behind-the-scenes support, partnering with coaches, directors, and school leaders to ensure students are equipped and inspired to thrive. Angela’s work is driven by a core belief: Every student, regardless of zip code, deserves equitable access to the same kind of opportunities that inspire growth, unlock talent, and ignite lifelong learning and potential.










The Crown Within, Inc.
Angela Chapman continues to demonstrate her unwavering commitment to community uplift through her leadership role as Vice President of The Crown Within, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to empowering young girls ages 9–17 through mentorship, mental wellness, and leadership development. Drawing on her expertise in organizational development, Angela provides strategic guidance, supports program design, and strengthens community partnerships to expand the organization’s reach and impact. Her efforts have helped shape transformative programming that nurtures confidence, identity, and emotional resilience in girls navigating critical life stages. Angela’s work with The Crown Within, Inc. reflects her belief that investing in girls is one of the most powerful ways to break cycles and build strong, thriving, sustainable communities.



Pioneering Excellence

Pioneering Excellence
Angela Chapman has served on the Board of Directors for Pioneering Excellence, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, since January 1, 2025. In this role, she contributes to advancing the organization’s mission by serving on the Annual Essay Scholarship Committee, which supports academic achievement and leadership development among young people. She is also one of the proud sponsors of the organization’s 2025 Black History Month Program, a distinguished event dedicated to honoring historical and contemporary trailblazers, celebrating Black excellence, and empowering the next generation of leaders.
